Why the gulls are choosing to gather on the rocks to bask in the afterglow is a mystery perhaps just a change from their usual groupings at the waters edge standing still and looking out over the ocean into the sunset which at the end of this cloudless sky day is nothing less than magnificent spreading its golden luminosity along the meeting point between air and water with subtle pink rays merging with the faint mist in the far distance gradually thickening as the sun sinks deeper into the ocean and darkness falls but not a bird on the beach only on the rocks and the cliff and fluttering from one to the other up and down and here an there and still and flapping and preening and soaking in the warm glow as do I too….
